Many years ago, I met a client who became a mentor for a short time. One thing he taught me, that I have embraced and taught to others, is HALT.  It’s an acronym that stands for:

Hungry

Angry

Lonely

Tired

If you are experiencing one or more of these, you need to HALT and practice self-care. To continue you risk stumbling emotionally or into harmful habits.

Obviously, respecting that you’re hungry, angry, lonely, or tired requires self-awareness as we make our way through each day however, if you practice HALT you will find it easier to live it.
