When religious atheists, and some religious people too, talk about God they often don’t have nice things to say.  For example, they describe God as violent, capricious, controlling, and uncaring.

When you think about it, that sounds like human beings. If God is a being far beyond humans, wouldn’t this being be above all those negative characteristics? In fact, if we can make a value judgment on what is good, wouldn’t this being be the best of the best?

Could it be that that when we construct a god like we often describe, a god in our own image, and when we despise that god, are we simply just hating the worst part of ourselves?
